As diesel-powered cars are foreseen to be the largest selling variants in the UK, BMW has set the XP Sports Activity Coupé to win the sales race with its unique selling point: the combination of sports-car performance and command driving position safety and convenience, all in the svelte body of a coupe.
With the enthusiastic driver as its target market, the BMW X6 features a number of powerful and innovative features that elevate it from other diesel passenger vehicles. Beyond being powered by a single-turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine that showcases third-generation common-rail fuel injection and is capable of producing 235hp at 4,000rpm, the BMW X6 has a feature that ensures maximum fuel economy.
Called Brake Energy Regeneration, it enables the X6 to reuse what would have been energy lost by the alternator. A regular alternator drains power from the engine constantly; and under-braking and going downhill also waste energy since the engine goes on over-run.
However, with the Alternator Control and Absorbent Glass Mat battery of the Brake Energy Regeneration system, the X6’s alternator dissipates engine drag by only engaging when required to charge the battery. The alternator therefore is able to divert the lost energy and use it to charge the battery.
Additionally, the Sports Activity Coupé achieves lower emissions and higher fuel economy by having tires that have minimized rolling resistance as well as special heat resistant and anti-distortion materials in the sidewalls and tread. Moreover, it also uses low friction transmission fluids and active aerodynamics for the engine. The former ensures efficient running, while the latter regulates air flow to the engine and thus enables it to constantly perform at its peak efficiency.
The BMW X6 will be launched in May, 2008, and will also be available as a petrol-powered model. It will be launched together with the X6 xDrive30d, xDrive35d and xDrive35i; whereas the X6 xDrive50i will only be on sale later this year. Prices for the X6 are yet to be announced.

For the year 2008, Mercedes-Benz will unveil new models of the CLC and the SLK Roadster. The 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLC--the "youngster" in the brand's coupe family--will literally be revealed in a grand fashion -- that is, at the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. Pre-show events materials and posters feature Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Eva Padberg covering/revealing the coupe with the flowing fabric of her evening gown.
Beyond the high standards that Mercedes typically imposes on its vehicles, the new CLC showcases a cleaner and more powerful four-cylinder engine, new direct steering for nimbler bend-handling, more than a thousand freshly-developed or revamped components, modern infotainment systems, and extra fitting such as 18inch alloy rims and chrome trim.
The 2008 SLK Roadster, on the other hand, features a more aggressive Formula One face as well as a more commanding rear. The front has what Mercedes-Benz calls an "even more pronounced arrow shape;" whereas the sleeker, "diffuser-style" rear makes it look more powerful from behind.
Among its outstanding features are the vario-roof that transforms the roadster into a weather-proof coupe in mere seconds, direct steering, enhanced audio and telematics systems, and the optional LINGUATRONIC voice-activated control system.
There are three engines to choose from: a supercharged four-cylinder that is capable of 184 horsepower with 184 pound-feet of torque; a formidable 5.5-liter 360 horsepower V-8; and a highly revamped 3.5-liter V-6. The last has lower CO2 emissions and is more free revving, but it is 33 horses more powerful than the previous V-6 at 305 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.
Whichever Mercedes-Model one takes, it is an investment in personal lifestyle that can be difficult to keep up when it comes to car maintenance and parts replacement. However, there are many sites online that help overcome this problem. In fact, here is a place that not only has a comprehensive line of genuine and aftermarket Mercedes-Benz parts -- it offers many of them at huge discounts, too: AutoPartsWareHouse. With the help of the internet, one can live out the Mercedes-Benz high life fully and without regret.
